I think it's about time I once again update mah journal.

Anywho, to whom it may or may not concern, I should probably clarify a few things. First, as of recent I've been getting various requests from people to draw various things. This started when someone asked me out of the blue to draw something for them, so I did. When I posted it, I put in the description that if someone asked, I would draw something for them. The reason behind this was simply that I didn't want that to be the only request-type deviation there (I'm kinda obsessive-compulsive about that sort of thing). Also, to be honest, I didn't think anyone would really see, let alone consider, the offer made. So then came the requests. I wasn't expecting to get quite so many. It wouldn't have been so bad if they were requests of things I was more familiar with. Oddly enough, they kept being related to things I'd either never heard of or just wasn't familiar with or interested in. I know that probably sounds like a pretty lousy reason not to take requests, and I am sorry, but it's hard to be motivated to draw something I'm unfamiliar with in any sort of way. So. Here's my new and reformed status regarding requests and such:

I am open to suggestions for drawings/animations/comics/whatever, and if you're idea happens to strike my interest, I'll consider doing it. However, that doesn't guarantee that I'll actually do it. I may be busy with other things or working on something else at the time. If you send me an idea and I like it, I'll let you know. In other words, I'm open to suggestions, but not necessarily requests.

Okay, secondly, I have an idea for a new comic project. "What about your previous comic project?" you may or may not think. Well, I know I always announce some project and then shortly afterward announce another. I'm well aware of this tendency of mine, and it drives me insane sometimes. It feels like I never actually accomplish anything I set out to do. So, what separates this project from any of the others I've started is that I don't care where it goes. With my other projects, I've always had these astronomically high expectations and knew just exactly how I wanted it. When I was humanly incapable of reaching these expectations and goals all by myself, I got frustrated with it and jumped to some other project with high expectations and knowing just exactly how I wanted it. Not so with this new project. I'm taking a more Taoist approach with it. This time I'm not setting any sort of expectations, no extensive planning ahead, nothing. I'm just going to do it, and see what happens. It also has a very simplistic, cartoony art style where I can pretty much forgo pesky details like correct anatomy and proper perspective. It's not supposed to look "real" in any sense, only that it conveys the information I want it to. It's almost hieroglyphic in its design.

But yeah, anyway, it's called "The Actually Incredible Adventures of Teleus and Albida", and (so far) it's about a boy and a girl of the Fourfold World who encounter an alien being that warns them of an approaching cosmic horror that may or may not have already arrived, and it's up to them to help stop it, that is, if it's not already too late... Or something like that. And there's a lot of philosophical, Hermetic, alchemical, esoteric, mystical, occult, religious, Jungian, mythological, Eastern, Gnostic, and other such deep ideas mixed in and played with as well, but not so much that it becomes inaccessible and needlessly arcane. I like to think of it as a kind of contemporary fairytale of sorts.

Unlike perhaps any other project I've started, my goal for this project is not to "complete" anything, but to have fun with it and see where it goes. To put it in metaphor, instead of the rigorous "clockmaker" approach I've typically use (carefully constructing a highly intricate machine piece by tedious piece), I'm utilizing a more organic "gardener" approach (planting the seeds of an intent and watching it grow, tending it when need be). I'm even open to the possibility of jumping to another project in the future. As for my Sir Dufius comic/animated short, I haven't abandoned it, of course. I just don't think now is the time to work on it. Until I can get others to help me with it, that is when I will pick it back up.

And if none of that interests you in any way, here's King Harkinian.
